If it is raining ,then I am wet.

CONDITIONALS fallacies.

This is important part of critical thinking  and can be used in day to day life.

If Condition Then Statement.

Condition is called as  an antecedent.  In our example : “it is raining”

Statement is called as  a consequent. In our example : ” I am wet”

If it is raining ,then I am wet.

Logical fallacies are below:

  1. Affirming the consequent:  If I am wet , therefore it is raining.

It is possible that someone throws a glass of water on you & you could be wet.So no need to conclude it is raining.

2.   Denying the antecedent : If it it not raining therefore I am not wet.

Again a glass of water on you could prove this one wrong.

  1. Hey, you didn’t include the contrapositive: if I am not wet, then it is not raining. I thought it would be here because you explained the reversal and negation of the conditional.
